North West Regional Energy Strategy

The North West Strategic Growth Partnership - set up in 2016 under the North South Ministerial Council – has developed a draft North West Regional Energy Strategy and Roadmap. Derry City and Strabane District Council and Donegal County Councils jointly developed the strategy as part of their Climate Action plans, and aim to drive reductions in energy use throughout the region, encourage the growth of renewable energy, and a reduction in carbon emissions.

The joint council authority are keen to work with others in developing a collaborative approach to their plans to decarbonise the North West, and last year organised several stakeholder events during which aspects of the strategy were presented, and we listened to other organisations innovative plans within the energy sector.
